Dulce Cafe - Worcester

Mountain Mill Shopping Centre, Mountain Mill Road, Worcestor

Dulce started out as an ice cream manufacturing company in Port Elizabeth founded by Hubert Stempowski in 1980. He named it Dulce, the Spanish word for sweet. Stempowski then opened the first Dulce retail store in Rink Street in 1984.

In 1990 the Rink Street store was sold to Lee and Licia Caldecott, a husband and wife team focused on store design and menu research and development.

Mike Pullen then joined the group in 1994 and excelled in his capacity as Managing Director. With the Pullen’s strong financial and managerial skills combined with Lee Caldecott’s flair and operational experience the franchise flourished. Between 1995 and 2002 twenty-five more stores were opened nationally focusing on regional shopping centers, small towns and niches where they had captured the markets.

As Dulce has continued to grow, now with over 50 franchises nationwide, the focus has been maintained on great quality coffee and fresh food in a cosy and relaxed environment.

Always stylish and upmarket, Dulce Cafe’s strategy to implement a change or upgrade of the store design every 5 or so years has led to their current make-over.

The latest store design will be rolled out in all new store builds, and existing Dulce Cafe stores will be encouraged to revamp to this new look at their convenience.

Three defined areas will feature a casual dining area near the front for customers that want something quick and light to eat. The barista / deli take out area at the entrance to the store will emphasise good coffee and take aways while the internal seating area will cater for customers that want to sit down and have a more substantial meal, or more privacy.
